You must be 19 or older to open an account, and you can hold only one. SpinAway's terms say it can ask for:

• Photo ID, such as a passport, national ID card or driving licence
• Proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a bank statement or utility bill
• Proof that you own the payment method, such as a screenshot of your e-wallet account

Documents are uploaded under Settings, then Verify. The help centre says the aim is to finish checks within 24 hours. The terms allow the casino to phone you as part of the checks and to hold withdrawals until you are fully checked. They also say an account that does not complete checks within two weeks can be closed and its winnings kept, so upload documents early.

The welcome package is three deposit bonuses: 100% up to C$500 on each of your first three deposits, so up to C$1,500 in total. The first deposit also brings 100 bonus spins on Big Bass Bonanza, credited 10 a day for 10 days. Each day's spins expire if you do not open them within 24 hours. You choose the bonus in the cashier when you deposit, and the terms do not mention a code.

The minimum deposit for any of the bonuses is C$20. Wagering is 30 times the deposit plus the bonus, and bonus money expires 30 days after it is added. The maximum bet with bonus funds is C$5. Spin winnings need 25x wagering. The terms list no cap on what you can withdraw after wagering.

Worked example. Deposit C$100 and you get a C$100 bonus. You then need to bet (100 + 100) × 30 = C$6,000. At C$1 a spin, that is 6,000 spins in 30 days, or 200 a day. Deposit the full C$500 and the target becomes C$30,000 for that one stage. At the C$5 maximum stake, that is at least 6,000 spins.

Slots count 100%. Live roulette, live blackjack and other live games count 10%, and table games 5%. Jackpot, crash, plinko, arcade and scratch games count 0%, as do a list of slots including Le Bandit, Reactoonz, Reactoonz 2 and Money Cart 2. Deposits made with Neteller, Skrill, paysafecard or ecoPayz do not qualify. The offer is open to Canadian residents outside Ontario. Unclaimed parts of the package expire 30 days after you register.

After the welcome package, the main ongoing offer at the time of writing is a Daily Deposit Boost: deposit C$50 or more and you get bonus spins on a featured Pragmatic Play slot, with no wagering on the winnings. It can be used once per customer, and the spins expire after 72 hours.

SpinAway does not publish a total game count. The lobby is built around slots, with studios such as Pragmatic Play, Play'n GO, Hacksaw Gaming, Relax Gaming, Playson, Wazdan, Booming Games, Print Studios, Swintt and Slingshot Studios. A jackpot row shows progressive games from Games Global and others, with pots quoted in CAD. Gambling.com counts more than 1,400 games, but that is its figure, not the casino's.

There is a live casino section with roulette, blackjack and other live games, and a set of table games. There is no sportsbook. Seasonal collections, such as a Halloween row, and a new-games row make the lobby easy to browse. You can also filter by category, provider and game feature.

If you plan to play with a bonus, check the excluded list first. Several popular slots, including Le Bandit and Reactoonz, count 0% towards wagering, and live and table games count only 5% to 10%. In practice, the welcome bonus suits slot players far more than live-casino players.

The minimum deposit and the minimum withdrawal are both C$20. SpinAway does not charge fees on deposits or withdrawals, according to its help centre. The cashier shows methods only after you sign in. Independent reviews list Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, MuchBetter and ecoPayz for Canada.

Things that slow a payout:

• ID checks not finished
• Your deposit not wagered at least once (the terms allow a processing charge if it was not)
• An active bonus, because a withdrawal before wagering is finished cancels the bonus money

SpinAway has an Android app, promoted on the homepage and its promotions page. There is no iPhone app, so iPhone and iPad users play in the browser with the same account.

The help centre says support is available 24/7, with live chat on the site. Email goes to support@spinaway.com. No phone line is listed. The help centre covers account access, ID checks, bonuses, payments and the regional site redirects. It suggests writing from your registered email address for account questions. Too many failed login attempts are the most common reason an account gets locked, and the password reset process usually fixes it.

In the Responsible Gaming area of your settings, you can set deposit limits per day, week or month and session limits on how long you stay logged in. You can take a break from 24 hours up to a 30-day self-exclusion, and it cannot be lifted early. For a permanent closure, contact support by email or live chat. The site also offers a self-assessment test and links to Gamblers Anonymous, the Responsible Gambling Council, BetBlocker and Gamban.

The History tab in your settings shows your payments and games for the last three months, which is a simple way to check how much you have spent. You can also switch off promotional emails and texts under My Details.
